Instructions for use and mechanism of action of the herbicide Salsa

Agriculture today cannot do without chemicals that help destroy weeds and increase crop yields. One of the latest developments by DuPont is the new generation Salsa herbicide with a broad profile and effective action. It is necessary to know the rules and rates for the consumption of the drug, so as not to harm plants and the environment.

Composition, release form and purpose of the herbicide Salsa

The herbicide is based on etametsulfuron-methyl, its concentration is 750 g per 1 kg of substance. The drug is able to penetrate the leaves and soil. "Salsa" is a herbicide designed to control weeds in rapeseed and sunflower crops, especially in the initial phase of their development. Winter rapeseed significantly reduces yields if the seedlings are not treated with weeds. The form of release of the herbicide is powder or water-soluble granules, packaged in plastic jars or bags of 100 g, 250 g, 600 g.

Mechanism of action

The main active ingredient of the drug "Salsa" has a selective character and a high rate of penetration into weeds through leaf plates. If it rains after the treatment, the herbicide can act through the soil as well. For an optimal effect on weeds, a temperature of at least +5 ⁰С is required. The application regulations provide for the use of the herbicide both in spring and autumn.

A week after the treatment, the weeds stop growing, turn yellow, and dry. The death of harmful plants occurs in two to three weeks. The term is influenced by weather conditions, the concentration of the applied preparation and the stage of weed development.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of the Salsa herbicide include:

  • high selective properties of the preparation, thanks to which productive destruction of a wide range of weeds is possible;
  • the ability of the herbicide to "work" on all varieties and types of rapeseed;
  • the possibility of killing crucifers at the stage of cotyledons;
  • increasing the yield of rapeseed and sunflower;
  • if the dosage is doubled, the drug does not have a depressing effect on a cultivated plant.

The disadvantages include:

  • the ability to accumulate in plants and soil and change its composition.

Consumption rate of funds

For the treatment of rapeseed and sunflower, the Salsa herbicide is used together with the Trend 90 adhesive (200 ml per 1 ha). The consumption rate of the product differs depending on the cultivated crop:

  • spring and winter rapeseed - 15 grams per 0.025 hectare;
  • sunflower - 20 grams per 0.025 hectare.

Processing is carried out once a season. Rapeseed is sprayed in the period between the formation of cotyledon leaves and the formation of buds, sunflower - in the phase of 2-8 leaves until the cultivated plants begin to interfere with the cultivation of weeds.

Liquid consumption for all crops is 250 liters per hectare.

How to prepare the working solution correctly?

To prepare a working solution of the Salsa herbicide, you will need water, the temperature of which is in the range from +10 to +16 ⁰С.

At lower levels, the degree of drug solubility decreases, and the processing efficiency decreases by 30%.

  1. Fill the sprayer with water halfway or one-third the volume.
  2. Activate mixing mode.
  3. Add the required amount of the drug.
  4. Add water to 75% of the volume.
  5. Add the required amount of Trend 90 surfactant to the solution.
  6. Add water to full volume.
  7. Use as directed.

Instructions for use of the drug

When using the Salsa herbicide, several recommendations should be followed:

  • processing is carried out once in spring or autumn;
  • the working solution is prepared immediately before use;
  • the optimum temperature for spraying is about 15 ⁰С;
  • the best time is morning or evening in calm, windless weather;
  • the procedure should be postponed to another time if rain is expected;
  • when carrying out work, all safety measures should be observed.

Precautions for use

Despite the low hazard class of the Salsa herbicide, precautions should be taken:

  • when transporting the finished product, the tightness of the container is monitored;
  • strictly observe consumption rates and do not exceed it by more than 25 grams per hectare;
  • do not allow children, pregnant women, patients to work with the chemical;
  • check the performance of the sprayer;
  • do not eat or smoke near the treated area;
  • use protective clothing, shoes, glasses, respirator for work;
  • after spraying, take a shower.

Herbicide toxicity

The herbicide Salsa belongs to the third class of hazard, which does not allow its use in water protection zones, near sources of drinking water. There are restrictions on use:

  • the processing site should be at least 300 m from the settlement;
  • no more than 5 hectares are processed at a time;
  • spraying is carried out early in the morning or late in the evening, notifying the owners of apiaries and neighbors about this;
  • cancel processing if the wind speed exceeds 4 m / s.

Compatibility with other products

Salsa is compatible with herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, nitrogen fertilizers. Before using tank mixes, a compatibility test must be performed.

Terms and conditions of storage

The herbicide "Salsa" is stored in a special warehouse for pesticides in a dark place at a temperature of 15 ° C to 40 ° C. The packaging must be sealed without damage. At home, containers with a chemical preparation are placed out of the reach of children and animals. The shelf life is about 3 years from the date of manufacture.

What are the analogues?

The analogs of the drug "Salsa" include herbicides:

  • Rondos;
  • Estok;
  • Borey Neo.

They are used to process rapeseed and sunflower at a time when there are about 4 leaves on the weeds. In case of severe contamination, the dose of the drug is increased to the maximum.

The advantage of using is low consumption of chemicals, quick penetration into the thickness of the leaf, high efficiency for many types of weeds and efficiency in all climatic conditions.
