In agriculture, it is important not only to grow the crop, but also to harvest it during the period of maximum readiness for use or storage. For these purposes, it is useful to use a desiccant - herbicide "Tongara". It can help improve product quality, dry seeds, achieve uniform ripening, reduce moisture levels and simplify and speed up harvesting.
Active ingredient and form of release of desiccant "Tongara"
The drug "Tongara" refers to bipyridylium derivatives, is a continuous action contact herbicide. The active ingredient is diquat, 150 grams per liter. Produced in the form of an aqueous solution (BP, preparative form), in cans with a capacity of 10 liters.
Purpose and principle of operation of the tool
Herbicide "Tongara" is used to treat the following plants before harvesting:
- Broad beans.
- Sowing of grain crops for seed material.
Tongara is a desiccant, that is, a substance that can reduce the amount of moisture in plant tissues. With its help, it is possible to accelerate the ripening of the crop, reduce the loss of seeds, facilitate harvesting, reduce losses during storage due to the fact that the products will contain less moisture, and the risk of rotting is minimized.
When a herbicide is applied, the process of absorption of moisture by plants from the soil is slowed down, which leads to the accumulation of nutrients in seeds, fruits and roots. This contributes to a more uniform and faster ripening, as well as drying of the green mass, which helps to harvest products with minimal losses.
Consumption rate and application of herbicide
The consumption rate of Tongara desiccant is 1.5-2 liters of the preparation per hectare of cultivated plantings. This ensures high biological effectiveness under any, even the most unfavorable, weather conditions. With the help of "Tongara" it is possible to perform crop desiccation in 5-7 days. Under favorable weather conditions, the consumption rate of the product can be halved without reducing the effectiveness of the drug.
"Tongara" belongs to the 2nd hazard class for humans and the 3rd hazard class for bees. This means that in relation to humans and warm-blooded animals, the drug is a dangerous compound and requires compliance with the rules of spraying and personal protection. In relation to bees, "Tongara" is a low-hazard pesticide, nevertheless, capable of killing from 1 to 5% of beneficial insects. To minimize harm, spraying is done in the morning and evening hours, when the bees are absent for years. It also requires a distance of 2-3 kilometers from apiaries and single hives.
When processing, the following rules must be observed:
- Do not drink, eat or smoke while working.
- Wear closed clothing.
- Protect your face with a mask or respirator, goggles, and your hands with gloves.
- Avoid the presence of people, pets and farm animals in the processed areas.
- Do not apply the product at high temperatures, in direct sunlight.
Avoid getting the solution on the skin and mucous membranes. If this happens, rinse the affected area with clean water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
On sunflower crops, the drug can be successfully combined with urea. In the case of other products, it is necessary to carry out a test mixing to identify or not the incompatibility of individual products with Tongara.
Pesticide storage rules
Store desiccant "Tongara" under the following conditions:
- Closed containers, which indicate that the contents belong to herbicides.
- Moderate temperature without drops and high humidity.
- Protection from direct sunlight.
The drug must be inaccessible to strangers, children and pets. It must be stored in specially designated premises. It is forbidden to keep the herbicide together with feed or food, as well as to use it after the expiration date of the drug (36 months from the date of manufacture). Unused leftovers and expired products must be disposed of. Disposal is prohibited.
According to the active ingredient used, the Tongara desiccant has the following analogs in the form of an aqueous solution:
- Golden Ring.
- Reglon Super.
- Reglon Forte.
- "Dry wind".
The use of desiccants does not harm the crop, the active substance does not accumulate in plants and soil, does not affect the germination and vegetation of the next crop year. When used correctly, Tongara desiccant and its analogues have minimal toxic effects on the environment and people.
