Care and maintenance of the vertical garden
The care and maintenance of the vertical wall varies according to the ways in which it is made. If we are dealing with creepers, these operations will be identified with the care of the creepers themselves. Irrigation and fertilization will allow our plants to maintain a healthy and luxuriant appearance, to which the pruning will mainly contribute. With this operation, in fact, it will be possible to remove the dry parts of the plant, contain the too exuberant disordered developments and eventually stimulate them in areas of the wall where growth was still scarce. As for the plants placed in metal cages or in prefabricated panels, our attentions must be different: if, as in the case of the terraced garden, the vertical wall were leaning against a ground, the roots of the plants will penetrate and become they will anchor, develop and take their nutrients from there. Otherwise, after a certain number of years, the plants inserted in the bags of jute or in the cells of the panel will have exhausted the nutritive capacity of the available soil and the dimensions will have compressed the growth. At that point the frequent fertilizations will no longer suffice and you will not even be able to think of repotting: simply replace the soil and the plants with new specimens with which to start the cultivation again.
